Toddler complaining feet hurt at night

My 19 month old has been saying 'toes' (he says this for his feet and his toes), and 'hurt!' every night as hes getting to sleep for about a month now and Im just wondering if anyone has experience of this? They dont appear to hurt during the day, although he doesnt like wearing socks or shoes at all. At first I thought it may be that theyre cold (due to sock aversion), but he uses the word for cold all the time. He grabs at them too...Does anyone have any experience of this? TIA:)

No experience of this, I assume you've double checked whether his shoes fit properly?

My DS gets this sometimes. Particularly when he's been doing a lot of walking/running/bike riding etc. I think it's either aching from extra activity, growing pains or he just wants me to rub his feet.

Shoes are fine, baffled. Perhaps growing pains. Thankyou for your replies :)

My DD has complained of achy legs and feet since she was little. We then noticed her feet turn inwards a lot and she tends to trip over herself. She got a referral to a consultant, she went yesterday in fact. It turns out it is just that her foot muscles, for some reason, aren't developing as quick as the rest of her body.

They said it is nothing to worry about and we should carry on as normal, and we also need to encourage her to think about how she places her feet as she walks, as eventually this will help the muscles straighten out.

It doesn't really affect her other than aching (which we treat with calpol if it's really bad) - she walked, jumped and hopped very early, she's great at football and is by far the fastest 4yo I've ever seen :o

I'm not saying you shouldn't ask the GP, I think when little ones are concerned you should ALWAYS check, but it's probably nothing to worry about :)

my ds gets this sometimes, started around that age as well.
usually after a day with more running around than usual.
what seems to help is a warm teddy (filled with grains that I warm up in the microwave) if that doesn't help it's calpol.
and yes, check that the shoes fit properly.

Thankyou so much for replying. I think if it carries on much longer I will take him to the GP just to check him over, but good to know its probably nothing to worry about Thanks

Just to add, both my dds tend to get achey feet at night - they both have fallen arches (flat feet). dd2 now has insoles, and no more achey feet (she's just turned 5, but it started around 18 months) and dd1, who could do with insoles too I suspect, only gets it when she's done a lot of walking.

Its at night because the tissues swell up, after a day of being compressed - something like that!
