DS has a tummy ache every morning for months

Thats it really but it has gone on for about 8 months now, he is 10 btw. In the beginning I thought it was nerves as he was unhappy at school, but he has moved schools and is happier now.
he wakes up every morning hungry and has breakfast immediately, the tummy ache starts while/before he is eating and goes on for about half a hour afterwards.

For breakfast he has a shake - semi skimmed milk, vitamin powder and blueberries. Also a bowl of cereal - shreddies and cheerios - with warm milk.
Sometimes he feels nauseus and doesn't finish his cereal.
he describes the pain as quite low in his tummy, sometimes he feels sick and sometimes he feels that he has too much wind.
Sorry if TMI but it may be relevant, he poo's usually every other day and usually in the afternoon after school.

It seems too minor to go to the docs with but as it has been going on for so long and this morning he was in agony, maybe I should take him. I just wanted some advice first and maybe any suggestions from those with similar experiences.
TIA

It could be some kind of food allergy - I would get him checked out ...Its a long time to be in discomfort!

Thanks Rosa I think I will have to take him to the Docs. I have just been looking at milk allergies and lactose intolerance - they are 2 different allergies apparently and as this occurs at breakfast time, which is the time he ingests the most milk I wonder if it is an allergy?

Is he constipated?
Dd2 was like that and they found she was constipated and needed treatment. She also gets tummy aches with stress.

DeWe - i don't think he is constipated. i had thought it was stress for the first couple of months but think we can rule that out now.

I am wondering now about Lactose Intolerance as it is quite common and he has very little if any dairy throughout the rest of the day.
I may have to try cutting out milk for a while, he doesn't really like soya milk though, we will have to give all the dairy alternatives a go.

Does he have a vitamin shake for a reason? Not judging, just wondering if it could be that?

Keep a food diary and see if you can spot a link. Go might ask you do to this anyway. If it is milk you will soon know....lots of alternatives for breakfast, toast, omelette etc.

Hope you get answers soon!

He was very sick a couple of years ago with glandular fever. The health shop recommended the "animal parade shake" as the best souce of all the vits and minerals needed. It really is a miraculous tonic as he was very weak and slow to recover and has had nothing more than minor colds since, and its great way to get fruit into him in the morning.
I have made a GP appointment for Friday and hopefully there is some kind of test they can do, as dropping 1 thing at a time could take forever to work out what it is!
