Lumbar punture side effects - baby

My 7 month old had a lumbar punture on Friday. This ruled out meningitis, and it was decided that he had an unidentified virus, which he wasn't coping with very well. He was in hospital until Sunday, and his obs were normal from Saturday night onwards. His temperature has been normal since discharge.

He is a happy, contented little soul normally, but he's been really off since we got home - not screamingly difficult, but miserable, wanting lots of cuddles, reluctant to really play on his own, and off his food and breastfeeds (not so off that he is at risk of dehydtration, but just not enthusiastic). He is a very subdued and clingy version of his normal self.

I am happy that he is clinically well, and had put this down to post-viral tiredness and the effects of 4 very broken nights / lack of proper naps and a generally traumatic time while he was ill. However he's slept loads for the last couple of days and is still far from cheerful, and I am starting to wonder about whether he might have a headache following his lumbar puncture. Different websites I've looked at give different answers as to the likelihood of this. How would I tell? Should I worry? And if this is bothering him, when is it likely to go away?

He's actually had a lumbar puncture before, at 9 weeks (which did confirm meningitis (viral) Sad - nothing underlying these bouts, just bad luck - he is otherwise healthy). He seemed fine after this lumbar puncture, and actually bounced back very quicly from the meningitis. First time round I remember the procedure being explained, and some advice being given as to risks (although I can't really remember what). This time round nothing was explained at all, and we weren't given any follow up advice really (a whole other story, but not hugely impressed with our experience).

Post LP headaches are resolved by lying flat-not easily achieved with a baby.
Sometimes the puncture hole does not seal properly causing leakage and a headache.
Speak to your GP or call the Paed ward. A nurse/duty doc should be able to advise.

Thanks. Will speak to GP tomorrow, failing which call the hospital - not majorly concerned but would like it followed up if he doesn't settle.
