... starting to wee that is. This morning first thing, nothing came. After breakfast waited there for five mins before we had success. She said she could feel it but nothing was coming.

She said there was no pain.

She doesnt drink much during the day at school (despite my best efforts) and we try and make up for that in the evening. She had the usual drinks after school and in the evening last night.

Ideas anyone? I have booked her in with the GP on Thursday morning anyway..

Is it always first thing? - sometimes when the bladder is very full (i.e. overnight) it is hard to start a wee even though you know you want to go.
is it possible that because she can't go immediately, she is panicking slightly - which would compound the situation, - she needs to be able to relax. Running the tap in the basin is the traditional means of encouraging someone to wee - so maybe worth a try.

I really wouldn't panic at this time - there are many other explanations for this problem, - she may have a urine infection for instance - take a sample with you to the GP's so it can be tested there and then.

It's natural to worry when another member of the family has had a serious illness, but I don't think you should worry about that while there are still much more likely explanations for the problem.

Just seen that she doesn't drink much - that won't help things, - and it will make her wee when she does go more concentrated and more likely to irritate the urethra (which again can mimic the feeling of wanting to wee). I'd keep a note of how much she actually is drinking in a day, and tell the GP the quantity.

Thank you, yes it seems to be first thing...

She is absolutely fine in herself and I have calmed down a lot!

We will march off to the GP with a sample and I am sure it will just be an infection or something.

Then I will murder her father for scaring everyone to bits.
