ok I know for a start that there is more than one thing going on so if you can shed any more light or kind words please do

  1. DD is completely wees trained but withholds pooh and while she did pooh a small amount on Saturday I think she is still backed up which leads to grizzlyness and clingyness
  2. She has had a runny nose for a couple of days and yesterday said she had a sore mouth (poss throat)
3.She was hard to settle last night but today had picked up a bit and was eating a bit.
  1. The bit that is worrying me is since mid afternoon she has refused all food/drink (have been giving plungers (10mls) of water every quatre hour, she has no temp, has only had one vomit (app 3pm) she has only done one wee since 8am this morning. Could she be dehydrated, it doesn't seem likely but it is now 6pm and only one wee????

anyone got any views on if she could be dehydrated with no temp, only one vomit and giving her water every quater? I have tried to get more water into her but she is absolutely going batshit at the idea of more than I am giving. Have put her down for sleep now with a night nappy on so will keep eye on her overnight. Has anyone else had a child this young go so long between wees?

Hope she is feeling better. If her throat is sore then she could be reluctant to drink. Have you tried giving her ice cubes in water to help? Will she take milk? If she is dehydrated then wee will smell strong. If she often doesn't drink a lot she could well be constipated. Does she use potty or toilet? It could be that it is uncomfortable for her to use it to go for a pooh on.

I'd try to get a urine sample if she does wee. My dd, also 2, sometimes has symptoms like this with a UTI.
Really sympathise with the poo withholding thing. We have this problem and she hates having to go. Definitely a behaviour change beforehand too.

thanks for answering, I think it is a combination of sore throat and being backed up making her not want to drink...it have tried ice, milo (her usual favourite treat), water, juice you name it. She generally drinks well Wolfie and while she is not constipated in the sense that her poohs are dry and hard, she hold pooh in, once she actually lets it go then it is fine consisitency, not hard etc. Belinda I had wondered about a UTI but would have thought a temp would accompany. I have some handy little pouch thingees left over from ds when he was small that I can put on her while she is sleeping so will try to get a sample that way. The one wee she did do didn't seem to smell but did look a bit concentrated and was a huge wee at the time as it should be from a bladder holding it for 5 hours!! BTW she uses potty at home, refuses to contemplate toilet yet is fine on toilets when out and about. I don't think it is a comfort thing as when she does finally pooh she heads straight for the potty she just can't get her head around the letting it go part for some reason.

You could make up some homemade ice lollies with juice?
