It's just a cold right?

He came home on wednesday very clingy, seemed to resolve into a cold but Thursday, sent him to school. They sent him home at Lunchtime.

He slept for 2 hours, then seemed much better.

Kept him off Friday, he was very low when he woke but quickly improved. Went to bed (exhausted) at 6pm. Very feverish overnight.

Is bright red face and body, but no rash. Temp is responding to calpol.

He doesn't have any specific pains apart from his knees and ankles.

Is it just a cold or something else? I've been up every night with him since Tuesday an we're both knackered so may be missing the obvious.
thanks

My DS just had something very similar, but with stomach pains that kept him awake. Pretty sure it was mild swine flu. I was up for three nights running with him, although it lasted around 7 days in total

oh thank you - it good to know he's not the only one a cold is lasting so long for - though sorry for your DS! Hope you're getting some sleep now!

Not much advice to give except that when DD2 spent most of one winter constantly with one bug or other i got her some Floradix, which is vitamin and mineral tonic. (from health food shop) Keep it in the fridge and use within one month. One teaspoon a day. Really boosts up the immunity and general wellbeing in the winter. She seemed much better able to fight things off after a month on that.
We used to call it her strong medicine! Tastes like apple. Smile

Thanks weevils, he's normally stronglikeox child so this has knocked him sideways.

He's sleeping at the moment which is good.
