Giving calpol to Four month old ebf baby

Dd has cold, caught from three year old I posted on earlier in the week! We've tried to give her calpol but she gagged horribly and vomited. Her temp better now, but knowing these things come and go I'm looking for advice in getting medicine into a baby that's only taken breast milk til now-no bottles.

We just used a spoon with both of our boys - is that what you tried and then she vomited?

I just dribble it into ds's mouth - after the initial brief outrage he likes it; seems to welcome the fake strawberry taste after only ever tasting milk Hmm

I don't try and put the actual spoon far in his mouth though as this will upset him.

We used one of those syringe-looking things when DS was little (like a big syringe but no needle obviously!)

That worked well, mostly. Much easier than a spoon IMO. You can get one from the chemist.

You should squirt the calpol gently into the inside of the cheek though, not squirt it down their throat as that'd be a choking hazard.

Why did she gag do you think? Was it because she didn't like it, or too much at once, or some other reason?

Syringe, little at a time into their cheek.

This is dc number 3-so I thought we kind of knew what we were doingBlush. Have def used the tips you suggest-into side of mouth, little by little etc. so not sure what it was. We've given calpol to the others when they were ebf and not has the same drama. Hoping the fever will be short lived.

Maybe this one won't be disappointed when I say they don't need calpol! The other two love it!
