ok where do i start? my beautiful daughter is 15 months old and isnt walking, crawling, picking herself up, bum shuffling. she can roll and now sit up (she wasnt able to sit up until she was around a year old) i started to grow concerned at around 9 months when i noticed she was still wobbly and couldnt sit up. ive never been a pushy mum, my boys didnt crawl till 10 months and walk till 14 months which is fine. but i could just feel something wasnt right, i got a referal to a pedeatrician and my daughter is now under watch and has been having physio therapy since 12 months old, she was given a 'corner chair' and after a month in that , started to sit up un aided. brilliant! she can roll over onto her front but doesnt like it too much and rolls back on to her back. she can feed herself finger foods but i have to lay her down for her to feed herself a bottle of milk or some juice as she cannot yet lift the bottle up high enough to drink while sitting up. weve practised kneeling against things but she just sits on her legs and then they hurt after a while. she wont sit sidewards and screams if her knees are put into sidewards position. we have seen the pedeatrician twice now, they are quite baffled aswell as the physio therapist because mentally, she is very alert, tries copying things we say, shes learning how to give kisses and wave bye, she picks up and plays with her toys fine, shes a happy baby! i put her in her walker every day to stretch her legs and maybe get some practise standing (which she doesnt mind) she just cant stand un aided. shes been booked in for an M.R.I scan and a blood test for genetic genes and thyroid. so i guess i can just see what the results will be. BUT! there is one other things. for months, probably about 9 months now or maybe longer. shes had a problem going poo. its not just a little problem. imagine your baby screaming in agony, face going red, holding their breath because they are in so much pain. when you go to change their nappy after the horrible experience, there is blood and they have split. the poo is usually hard and quite large but even when it comes out small, she cries. ive been given 'lactoloose' to give her shes been on it every day since she was nearly 10 months old. it didnt make it better. ive recently got a stronger one for her and again its not amazing, i mean the way shes been using laxotive youd think shed be having diaorhea! my mum inlaw metioned 'twisted bowels' the pedeatrcian said sometimes if theres a problem with muscles ( which could be stopping her walking, crawling) it could be causing bowel problems. I JUST WANT ANSWERS! im so upset i with having to watch my baby in such pain for just going to the toilet! and not being as mobile as she should, seeing her frustated because she cant just pick herself up. please, has anyone out there got nay kind of advice? big or small. can anyone relate? does any of this sound familair to you? i would appreciate a response

Oh poor you ,you sound at your wits end.Your story though is very similar to my ds2,he finally walked at 22 months and suffered from chronic constipation from about 6 months ,despite being EBF .

To cut a long story short he is dyspraxic and has some specific learning difficulties but is now 14 and healthy and happy .The constipation is due to low muscle tone (hypotonic),this also explained the lateness to walk.

Please do not panic ,google dyspraxia foundation and have a read and search on here and see if it rings any bells.

Have to dash but will come back and look later and hopefully you will get more replies.

I know plenty who did not walk until 20 months and have no issues so it could be nothing

Just one thought swimming is great for the constipation as it gets the muscles in that area movingWink

My eldest was the same. She never sat till 10 months and didn't walk till 25 months. She would scream for ages trying to do a poo Sad we found that Vaseline around her bottom, a yachult in the morning and lots exercise helped.
She has autism, but also has very tight muscles in her legs which causes pain even now, and they still don't know what's causing it, Hmm she's nearly 9!!

really? but autism isnt connected? what race is your daughter? if you dont mind me asking. my daughters bi racial and i know some bi racial kids aswell as black kids can have sickle cell (i know im not spelling it right) but im not sure if that could be related either. theres so many 'syndromes' and 'disorders' ive come across but cant pin point one, its frustrating! the therapist talks as of shes lazy, the doctors are not sure. aaaah!

They say they can't be sure if the physical stuff is connected but most kids I know with autism have other dx too. Dd1 is white british on paper but dh doesn't know his dad and without getting into it all, is believed to be italian or Spanish. Dh has very small blood cells.
