just noticed 6 yo ds has this with bottom front teeth
None of his baby teeth have fallen out yet
Is it a straight to the dentist thing? Or a waif till our next appt )in a month) thing?
Have googled and it seems fairly common but not clear on whether treatment is needed ASAP or not

DD had this. We took her to the dentist and they said that treatment with braces may be needed in the future but at the time was just wait.

Now that the milk tooth has fallen off the new one is slowly moving into place. Looks like she won't need anything done.

My dd 6 had this earlier this year. I mentioned to my dentist (at my appointment) she had a tooth growing up behind her baby tooth. She said it was quite common and as long as the baby tooth came out before the new tooth got too big it would be fine. A couple of months later at dds routine checkup baby tooth was still there and dentist said there was a slight infection so numbed her up and whiped said baby tooth out and new tooth was there and fine.

It was also her bottom front tooth, the other one did the same but did in fact fall out on it's own, hth.

It's perfectly normal. When the baby teeth fall out the adult teeth will move forward (I know it looks as though they are much too far back and much too far through for that to happen, and you are mentally adding up the orthodontic bills in your head, but they do. It's almost like magic).

I asked about this when DS's teeth started coming through and was reassured by the massed dentists of Mumsnet. Since then exactly the same has happened to several of his friends -- in every case the adult teeth have moved forward perfectly.

Very reassuring thanks. The first site that came ip on google was American and seemed to suggest that the baby teeth would always need removing by a dentist, so am pleased to hear that this may not be the case!
Hoping for wobbly teeth soon!!
