dd with ongoing stomach pain

dd2 has been complaining of stomach pain to varying degrees for a week now. She seems ok in the mornings but it gets worse as the day goes on. I've had the school call me a couple of times to take her home but the following morning she seems okay. I've taken her to the GP twice because she was in quite considerable pain at the weekend which makes me think it's nothing to do with not wanting to be at school. The GP can find nothing wrong with her. She is not eating or drinking as much as usual as she says it hurts more when she eats or drinks. She just doesn't seem herself at all. There is no temperature or sickness/runs but I have noticed she seems to have developed quite bad breath. She is 6. I am keeping her off school now until monday but should i take her back to the GP although I'm sure they'll just say they can't find anything? Really don't know what else to do!

that's what I thought. Obviously GP can only do so much and not actually look inside. She's on the sofa now. She is not in agony but just says it hurts. She seems quite pale and just not herself. I wish she did have a temp or sickness then at least I'd know it was nothing too serious. I am starting to get worried Sad

Could it be Mesenteric Adenitis? My DS used to get this and it was horrible :(

"If you have (or your child has) typical symptoms and there are no signs of anything else causing the pain, then your doctor may think that mesenteric adenitis is likely. It is difficult to prove the diagnosis, because the glands are deep in the abdomen and cannot be seen or felt. So the diagnosis often involves excluding other problems which could cause this type of pain, and then making a presumed diagnosis of mesenteric adenitis."

Buscopan helped him a lot BTW

hi, thanks for that Milliways but on reading it does say a high temperature and she doesn't have one. I think I will have to take her back to GP tomorrow and ask for further tests.

DS didn't have a temp - just crippling pains. After they ruled out constipation and everything else they decided the glands in his stomach were inflamed. I'd never heard of glands there before!

Hope you get her sorted soon.
