Well we have 7 spots and counting, seems a bit offish but ok in himself at the mo. I am meant to be having an amnio tomorrow and he was going to come with me and DH to the hospital

Am I right in thinking that chickenpox is a worry for pregnant ladies who have not had it before?

No you can't take him with you, I'm afraid. Would be very serious if he came into contact with a pregnant woman who does not have immunity.

DO NOT TAKE HIM!

in fact if the spots are still appearing do not take him anywhere until all the spots have crusted over. he is still infectious.

A woman who work for my DH is pregnant so I will get him to call her too and make sure he knows as well. My poor boy, he has never been ill in his little life so far and ha ailed through teething etc. so hopefully it wont be too bad for him.

They had chickenpox at his brothers playgroup and he i meant to be going there tomorrow but it is very likely that he will get it too so I wonder if I should be ending him in too - I thought they were infectious for a couple of days before the spots come!

Bloody hell, I have no idea what to do. I don't want to go and have the amnio on my own and have no idea who can have him for me

Is it likely that I can pass the infection on? I would not normally worry but I don't normally spend time in rooms full of pregnant women

No no I have 4 children - I am well aware of that to be honest. I would not dream of taking him. That is a bit patronising - this bit particularly 'It's hard to adjust to, but one of those things about being a parent.' - look I know that but having an amnio is a big deal and am shitting myself - I am allowed to panic without being talked down to!

Also about if I am being crawled over by a poxy baby if I pose a risk to pregnant ladies? Should I be having an invasive procedure with an infectious baby?

don't know about that one - probably best to ring thje scanning people tomorrow first thing.

I'm fairly sure they wouldn't do an amnio with him there even if he wasn't poxy. but yes - you will also ned a hand to hold during it.

Is there nobody who could watch him for a couple of hours?

LIZS · 06/11/2011 11:46

You can't carry it as such - but there is a slight chance you could get it again even if you had it as a child.

pinkytheshrunkenhead · 06/11/2011 11:48

no i wouldn't expect them to do it with him there - I had a vague memory that it was a prob for non immune updiffed ladies and came here to check

DH is working from home mon, tue, and wed to look after boys so I can take it easy (he works full on in London and has already had to move heaven and earth to be here) - bloody fucking nightmare

Best laid plans and all eh?

Oh dear now my dd looks like she is getting it too - she had it when she was younger so getting it for a second time is very bad luck indeed

Bollicks!
