shes was sick at 5pm earlier, then again, then more but just bile which is now green. I know we all bring it up after being sick but this is a odd colour. still bringing it up at 12.15am :(

I wouldn't have worried only I googled!!!!

never crossed my mind the things I read!

my biggest worry is dehydration, I tried to get her to have some sips of water but thats has come back up...green . she hasnt had a wee for a long time

how would I know if she is dehydrated? or do we just go to bed and stop being ott with worry?

thanks

Fingers crossed for Anniebears dd Sad, dd2 (ASD) had a nasty bug last year where she was bringing up green bile, it went on for 4 days and in the end i took her to hospital, luckily after diyrolite (sp) and another day in bed it cleared up but was very scary seeing her that ill.

probably long lol

rung our Doc in the morning just for him to take a look at her as an emergency to see if she could be dehydrated....my emergency appointmant was for 3 hours later...still fuming

went to A&E instead

wish I had seen your comment sally sparrow!

she got seen quite quickly , had a ct scan. she brought up green watery stuff as soon as we got there, but they were not concerned
She was still asleep , I thought it might still be a bug but as the day went on (on a ward by now) i was more convinced it was her shunt. they did a CT scan which ahowed her ventricles were a little enlarged to what they would expect but they had nothing to compare with . Now loooking back they only had to take one look to see how seepy she was and put 2 and 2 together

took ages for the ct scan to come back, baring in mind she needs to see a neuro surgeon within 3 hours , we were there 12hrs in the end :(

they rung Alder Hey who decided they wanted her there, but that took ages, by this times I was panicking, she didnt look like my daughter, her forhead and near eyes were bigger, I was 100% certain it was her shunt. But the nurse said daont worry, they arent worried, we havent been told to blue light you over. But we did, lights and siren to Alder Hey.

Neuro Surgeon saw her asap, mentioned maybe needng a new shunt but wasnt sure. then he came back 5 mins later , had another feel of her shunt and said" right , she is going for a shunt revision now" (shutnt replacement() and that it was now an emergency nd she was going tachicardic (cant spell) so off she went for emergency brain surgery :(

she got a full new shunt, they had to leave the old one in as they were worried if they tried to remove it she could have a bleed in the brain and have more brain damage

came home today :o she is doing well, I however are going to take much much longer :(

sorry for the waffle! and thank you so much for your support xxxxx :)

am a bit annoyed that the local hospital didnt seem to have a sense of urgency, I think if it blocks again and we now know how she will be I will go straight to Alder Hey

How scary for you - glad she's on the mend now though. Have you asked the hospital for a copy of her "well scan"? That way, if you ever needed to again, you've got something for them to compare a current CT scan to.

But you're definitely right to go straight to Alder Hey in future.

Ds1 has had neuro surgery recently and we've been told that if we ever have to call an ambulance for a neurological reason, to insist they take him straight to the neurosurgical unit, rather than the local hospital.

anniebear · 02/11/2011 21:34

unfortuantly shes doesnt seem to have a well scan!

she had a ct scan at 8 months which showed she needed a shunt. I dont recall them doing another afterwards. Plus it was over 9 years ago

we have a few appointments now this month so I will be asking for access to both hospitals I think. If I am ever sure its hers shunt we are off to Alder Hey, even if its to take her to A&E so we dont have to spend 13 hours at a local hospital first

Glad she's on the mend. Would definitely second taking her directly to Alder Hey if this happens again (hopefully not). With shunt probs, you need neuro surgeons asap.

kipperandtiger · 04/11/2011 01:36

Glad to hear that she's been treated and is on the mend. What an exhausting four days it must have been!

will do, thanks everyone :)
