Eczema, what do you use?

DD has it on her face again, she is 2 years old. I am trying Dermol on her as the GP has recommended it in the past.
Just wondered what other parents use?
Does anyone know what causes it?
I know it's to do with dry skin so am wondering if the wind has set it off.

We use Oilatum in the bath, and Hydromol ointment on ds's skin - his skin is quite sensitive and he reacts to creams. Hydromol is just a thick grease.

We also don't use any soaps/shampoo/bubble bath on him.

We use Cetraben, prescribed by doctor. Only thing i have found to work!

My 2 year old has very bad eczema or should I say had We started using a product called Moogoo, a skin cream and bath lotion and within 2 weeks the difference to her skin is amazing :O Even with other creams we found if they calmed it down the effected skin would never really lose the rough, dry feeling but with this cream the skin is back smooth and clear, was delighted with the results of it as had been using steriod creams on her a lot and was glad of an alternative :) Should also say we are in Australia but afaik it can be bought online

we love moo goo too. they are in UK and send orders from here so works out cheaper for me which is a bonus. they are pretty helpful and will probably send samples if you want to try before you buy.

DD2 had mild eczema on her body and it cleared up when I moved from Fairy to Ecover zero washing powder. Might have cleared up anyway but still worth a punt.

Suducrem as it had zinc an lavender in, also dream cream from lush.

We also use dermol. 500 cream to moisturise and as a soap substitute and 600 bath emollient. No issues since starting on this a few months ago.

There is a uk site as well. Is it possible to get small samples to try out? Don't want to spend a huge amount if it's not what we need.

We use Dermol and if the eczema is closed (ie not open from scratching) and not inflamed but basically very dry skin then Elizabeth Arden

8 hour skin protectant (apricot coloured cream, it is very thick and sticky but if you give it a bit of time to soak in then it really starts making a big difference after a week or so with regular applications).

Dermal 600 in the bath (it's anti microbial so apparently good to prevent infections as well as moisturising) and hydromol ointment as an emollient. We have to use steroids 1%hydrocortisone and eumovate for flare ups.

Tried moo goo, but it has sweet almond oil and then realised my Ds had nut allergy, so it's been binned.

I had DD allergy tested this morning as she suffers from eczema in her face... She should avoid cows milk and yeast apparently which is what they all say she hasn't had any dairy since Sunday and I do think it's made a difference...

Aveeno...tried Cetraben Dermol Epaderm...Aveeno sorts out both my girls. Bath oil, bodywash & lotion. Also avoiding any washing power & conditioner apart from Fairy Non Bio. Can't use perfumed stuff in in the bath.... 8 Hr Cream brill for their wee faces..

I had it terribly when younger and again through puberty.

Amongst other things, I was prescribed evening primrose oil capsules. 6 a day. Took a few months to start working but really helped.

I'm sure there would be an equivalent now so not as many capsules needed taking.

Aveeno moisturising lotion keeps dds mild eczema in check when used daily. Also really helped my dry & cracked hands last winter. Good stuff.

Aldi non bio washing powder only, eczemol emoliant and doublebase gel, twice a day. Any deviation from this and she has eczema so bad it gets infected. If we stick to the routine she is eczema free. The key is to keep the skin fully moisturized as a prevention, if she gets a little patch I find it spreads really quickly. Eczemol is prescribed from the docs and it is honestly a miracle cream, we tried loads but they all made it worse!

We got moogoo samples today and I'm really impressed. DD has had a spell of really dry itchy patches on her face, rubbing her eyes a lot, and cracked lips. She's put the irritating skin balm on her face, followed by the soothing cream about 3 times throughout today and her face already looks much better. Epaderm has not been working at all while it's been this bad, but not bad enough to warrant the steroid cream, so I'm really pleased after only 1 day. Will keep using and see how the face and body wash work. The stuff is v expensive but if this works then I don't care how much - ill be ordering buckets of the stuff.
