Irritable hip - how long does it last?

Hi DD2 who is 2 has just been diagnosed with irritable hip, she has had a blood test, ultrasound and x-ray and all of these point to it definitely being irritable hip.

Now that we are more or certain that this is what it is, the question is, how long does it last usually?

my son has had this twice - apparently more usual in boys. Both times lasted about 3-4 days, but we had follow up xrays to check that thinflammation/ liquid in the hip joint was reducing. presumably she's on ibuprofen/ paracetemol?

Yes she is on ibuprofen, this has lasted for at least 6 days already, surely she should be showing some signs of recovery by now?

Also how did your son recover legalailen? Were there any signs that it was getting better, or did it just suddenly seem to stop?

hmm, not an expert but longer than we had. is she still screaming in pain when she moves, or is it just a bit tender when she tries to walk?

She will not walk and whilst being examined the doctor tried to get her to, and she shook with the pain, but she is not screaming in pain when she moves whilst lying down.

x post - gradual process from screaming in pain when the hip joint was moved,to being able to walk with a bit of a limp,and it tended to get worse late in the day, probably for a week to 10 days. We had to go to hospital for follow up ultrasound.

Ok so it might be that we are coming to the end of it. It really is most unpleasant never really heard of it before.

neither had I. fortunately I didn't have a chance to google it before heading to A&E for the day- seems that the symptoms can be indicative of worse things so we were lucky...

Yes I unfortunately managed to google it after we went to A&E as they were not that helpful at first, so had a night of most frightening Google searches, our GP has come up trumps for us. Thank you for this, I have to go pick up my other daughter now.
