I sorry :(

we had this with dd1. She had been dry at 3ish, then was wet until we went to the enuresis clinic when she was 7. We used the alarm and it worked eventually. She was dry for maybe 9 months then it came back when she was nearly 9. We started using medication as she had a sleepover, at first it was for occasional nights but in the end we used it every night. I was reluctant at first as I didn't want her on medication full time, but the washing just got too much (we've got 3 other children too and one was in washable nappies and I couldn't keep up with the washing and drying).

Anyway, she took medication called desmopressin and it worked very well for her. She was on it for over 3 years in the end. You have a break for a week every 3 months to see if the problem is still there. She had no side effects (although it can cause them) and it made everything a lot calmer at home (both in terms of self esteem and laundry!). She's now 13 and has been dry without meds for a few months.

Your GP should be able to prescribe the desmopressin while you wait to see the consultant. We've had it as a nasal spray (now discontinued I think), as melts (dissolve under the tongue) and tablets (manufacturing problem with melts ages ago led us to tablet and we ever switched back).

Have you looked at drinking and sleeping patterns? are you doing anything differently? is it possible she has a wee infection (very easy to get a sample tested)

Hope she isn't too upset, she'll get there eventually :)

our consultant also said 10% of 5 year olds and 5% of 10 year olds wet the bed regularly, so there are other children her age and older in her school who will have the same problem

some people just take longer to get there than others, hormones take a while to kick in and by puberty there are so many hormones flying about that I'm sure the problem will fix itself :)

She had the meds from the euresis clinic and then got the alarm which worked amazingly quickly. No accidents at all since then. We went on hols last week (late nights, crappy diet, crappy drinks etc) and she wet every night, we thought when she was back in her normal routines again she would go back but she has wet fri and sat night. Dont want to put her back in pull ups, might give the alarm a go again.

Someone posted this on another thread and it'd be worth a look if you don't know about them already:
