my original thread is here

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childrens_health/1246844-what-sort-of-abdomen-pain-is-this

she is 9. sudden onset of pain a week ago Saturday,( night before she'd had sudden fever shakes hot cold) pain worse in evenings, cramping and pulling. she doesn't have the big pain all the time, but it's always there. Appetite is normal, and nowt wrong with poo.

we were reffered to children's assessment ward yesterday at hosp, and told nothing bad, etc and given Buscopan for cramps.

She took one lunchtime, one evening, no change. woken this morning in agony.
Now, when she was in hosp it was low pain, not these, and the consultant even put on her discharge note, encourage dd to go to school.

Which i get, but only adds to the feeling that this is not really being taken seriously. With this pain she can't get out of bed.

Mesentric adenitis is what my gp and the hosp doctor have come up with, but when will there be any relief. Nothing's shown up in urine. The pain is left side only by belly button. Tender to touch.

can anyone else help. do i go back to hosp. please advise. x

thanks all, so many variables. i hate feeling like i am wasting their time, but they are i suppose going by symptoms.

the main reason they are not concerned as there is no fever. she is up right now, eaten breakfast.

doc ruled out appendix, he said she wouldn't be able to blow her tummy out?

i asked about ovarian prob, as she has begun early signs of development there. breasts and god help us pubes.

how is she today?

piratecat · 08/07/2011 22:34

hiya, sorry this dropped out of my convos.

Have just spent 2 days in hospital. Inconclusive but luckily they suspect the Mesenteric adenitis is the thing.

Were going to send us home then did another wee test and found blood so we got to have an ultrasound, other wise no scan would have been allowed. Basically they had nothing suspect to go by with the symptoms up till the blood in urine. Kidneys fine, no stone.

Reading on mn, some old threads, and some ressurected ones, this virus reaction in the mesentry can be crippling or mild.

we have the worse case scenario. dd's pain has gone down alot, but she still looks awful and i wil only be happy when there is no pain at all.

i hope this thread helps anyoneout there xx

That was what was suspected with my DD. They were wrong though. Hope your dd is soon well.

RandomMess · 09/07/2011 18:52

colleague went through all of this with her dd, weeks and weeks of it turned out it was a cyst on her ovary.

Have they scanned her ovaries to rule anything out, the start of puberty can create them?

piratecat · 10/07/2011 11:08

hi, they scanned her ovaries with ulyrasound but unfortunately could not see the left one, the one on the side of the pain as it was obscured by gas in the intestines.

But I would have thought, that if they suspected that they would have made more effort.? ( who knows) I did say, what if it is but they said the pain was too high.

Upshot is, the pain is very mild now. This was a virus. xx
