Nosebleeds in a child.

DS2 has just had another nose bleed and I was not confident in what to do. Googling confirmed I didn't do the right thing. Any tips for this useless mum as ds2 has had quite a few bleeds now .

You get the child to lean forward and pinch at the bottom of the bone in the nose until it stops.
If he keeps getting them then go to your GP.

My ds had so many nosebleeds he had to have his nose cauterised, it didn't hurt and he hasn't had one since.

Head tilted in front. Pinch just above the fleshy part of the nose (where the bony bit starts). Don't mess/clean any clots forming. Can put a bit of tissue just in the nose to block it up. I don't do this usually but did this last time when it was just a bit. Otherwise dab dab dab with a toilet roll.
Cold (ice pack/keys) at back of the neck.
Bit of vaseline on the inner lining in dry weather seems to prevent (assuming it's not from a bump)

Thanks. This time was a bump as he walked in to the bathroom door. Hopefully I will be better next time.
