My dad came back from Germany last night and I went round today none the wiser to how serious the ecoli outbreak was, I would never have gone round having known this. Now I'm worried sick because my 2yo daughter has been in contact with him. He has no symptoms as of yet. I don't really know what to adk, just wondered if anyone knew anything more, and how worried I should be. Thank you

I agree it's more likely to be in the growing process ~ water/fertiliser etc.

My Sil is in the hotel business, so unlikely to be a slight on her hygeine...

I caught salmonella from my brother when I was a teenager. However the person to person transmission of these things is not that easy and only happens from sharing toilets etc with people who have the shits. There is no way you would catch ecoli in the way you describe from someone with no symptoms. If that was possible it would be spreading across the world like wildfire.

They're thinking now that it's source is beansprouts form certain plant nurseries in Germany.

OP - I would try to think rationally about how small the risk to your dd is, particularly as your father has no symptoms.
