Anyone had a low percentile child refered to paed specialist?

Ds1 is on 0.2 percentile for height and has been since 6 months, at 2 he has now edged up to the 2nd percentile for weight having been 0.2 and under. While I am not tall, I am not really short either. The red book says that if your child falls outside of the range determined by parental height they should be referred to a paed dr specialising in endcrinology. Has anyone else done this? I am not sure whether to push the gp for this as ds is developing normally just is tiny (still in 9-12 month trousers!).

Yes, you should push for a referral.

If your worried give your HV a call and see what they say. I wouldn't be to worried as its not a sudden drop but does no harm to get advice.

thanks - while I think he's fine and just small, I don't want to find out in 10 years that he is deficient in something that could have been helped if spotted early

Yep. Toad boy goes back to the paed in September.
He's 4 ft 5 at 9 years old but he's just not gaining the weight properly.
He's gone from the 50th/75th percentile to just under the 25th.

His waist is no bigger than last year. I haven't had to take out the waists on his shorts.
