My nearly 3 year old has trouble rponouncing words, she says a lot but sometimes its very nasaly , she rarely uses sentances, my health visitor has refered her to the speech therapy team , tis could take 6 weeks.
However we are noticing that she is constantly trying to clear her nose, has trouble settling , breathes through her mouth and snores, she is prone to ear infections too.
We took her to the doctors who agreed it is probably her adenoids but he wont refer her as he would rather wait and see what the speech team say!
I would apreciate any advice as i feel she should of been refered to e n t ?

Ask if you can get her hearing tested - you can just insist your doctor do so - don't wait for speech therapy as at that age there is very little they can do for them. We noticed that our son by 3 wasn't a great talker so eventually got a hearing test. The hearing team suggested we get refered to ENT - diagnosed glue ear so was fitted with gromits and had his adenoids removed as he was really snotty and snored loads. It does take forever but be very insistant about the hearing test. Good luck

I agree with witchinghour - the indistinct speech and snottiness is shouting glue ear to me. My dd had glue ear which was severely affecting her hearing aged 3.6, funnily enough her speech was fine but I think maybe her hearing had been ok when she was learning the sounds. She had grommets fitted and adenoids out aged 4 and it was the best thing we could have done for her. She has been so much better since. (She's now 6).
