DD 4 has worms, had been complaining of a 'tickly' bum over the weekend, got her to pooh in a potty last night so could check and she has definately got them. Ive been to nurse as couldnt get dr appointment and i have got ovex tablets. It says that children under 2 cant have them which means trying to get a dr appointment to prescribe something ds (23m) can take. Would it be ok for me to just give him the tablet as he's only a month off two or will he spontaneously combust from not actually being two? Also it says to crush to give to children, can this then go in water to drink? have no idea how toget them to take it. It says you can chew them which i did and it nearly made me sick it was so disgusting!

just go to the chemist, you can get the liquid form over the counter. i know you'll have to pay for it, but it'll get the job sorted quicker.

Get the liquid, the tablets are vile even for adults. We got it abroad, so had to go around asking for "maggot ass" tablets everywhere!!! And you may need to re-do in two weeks, so if you can get the liquid the next dosing isn't too much of a fuss.

although, the active ingredient is the same in both tablet and medicine, so if he'll take the tablet, i'd just go with it tbh.

What luckykate said. You can buy the liquid over the counter. The whole family should take it - with the liquid it's one dose (we got the banana flavour - the DCs loved it Grin). Best to take another dose in 2 weeks time just to be sure. Wash bedclothes etc thoroughly, change PJs everynight and be scrupulously clean to prevent them coming back.

ps, the boots own version are a bit more palatable as they're orange flavoured, same ingredients as ovex.

Thanks for all the advice! I'll pop to boots instead of dr pharmacy. They didnt give me a prescription for tablets i just brought them as the nurse would only prescribe for me not a child who wasnt with me and it would be cheaper withou a prescription IYSWIM? The pharmacist seemed to suggest i could only get liquid with a prescription? Cost me £7.05 for 4 tablets!

worms is an expensive business. i bought 3 packs of 4 when ds had them, one pack for straight away, took another does 2 weeks later and have the last pack in the medicine cabinet in case he gets them again, which he will because he's a grubby little oik who bites his nails!
