Huge list of problems - dreading DD's doc appointment

I've booked a double appointment with the doc tomorrow (non-emergency, by the way) for DD (nearly 3). I'm just dreading it as I'm worried that a) there'll be something wrong with her and b) that the doctor will ignore me because I'm coming with a big list. The doc seems to switch off after the first thing and look at you as though you're mad. That's why I've ended up with such a long list - I avoid the doc until I must go. This is my list. She's a very happy, active little girl, but she must sound in a bad way from this list!!

  • Small dent in head (caused by child pushing a hard 'thing' into it over a year ago). A year ago the doc said it would disappear, but it's still there.
  • Black eye - two weeks old, but still hasn't fully disappeared - eye lid's still purple.
  • Rhinitis - she was diagnosed with asthma (I think incorrectly), but it seems it may be rhinitis instead.
  • Nose - two thin, flesh-coloured lines have appeared either side of her nose in the last few weeks. No idea what they are.
  • Birthmark - she has two tiny, raised birthmarks on her face. As a baby we were told they'd disappear, but they haven't.
  • Wrists - they click. A year ago the doc said it was the tendons and that it would correct itself. It hasn't.
  • Legs - she seems knock-kneed. The HV said it would correct itself when she was about a year old, but it's becoming more pronounced.
  • Toes - they're bent. Same as above re. HV.
  • Poo - it's sometimes pale and tinged with green. Had iron tests, which all came back as normal, but may there be a problem?

Poor DD. I don't know if i've been neglectful in not taking her to the doc sooner, or if I'm being all precious about things and she's fine.

I'm such a worrier!

I'd write it down like this and hand it over to the dr. to read as it's a lot.
Don't think you're being a worrier, and I doubt the dr. will either. My Gp says if it's worrying you then it's worth going to them about.
Hope it's all okay though, and you are just being a worrier. Wink

I do think you may be over looking things and I personally wouldn't go with a list like that and I have a VERY nice doctor.

KNock knees - has she got flat feet? My DS really over pronates, same as I do, but they usually leave them until they are 5 before referring them for insoles as they may grow out of it as it were.

I wouldn't worry about the black eye, sometimes bruises take longer to go. My main points about DS would be

a. Is he in or appear to be in pain

b. a very unusual change in him

c. is he active happy and appearing healthy

Only those three things would prompt be to do anything - well the last one I mean as long he is like this then that's the marker!

BUT, I meant to add, sorry, I am not really a worrier and if you need to discuss things to rest your mind then do so. Is your Doc not very nice?

PiaThreeTimes · 13/05/2011 16:29

Thanks both for your replies. :)

The doctor looked at me as though I was mad, but she put up with me. No, DD's not in any discomfort and yes she's growing well and (more than!) active, and so the doc wasn't concerned about anything.

I feel foolish. It's difficult, as a worrier, to know when a worry is legit. Poor DD!

awww, lol - at least you are aware you a worrier though and not sat there demanding there be something wrong with her!

Don't feel foolish - these will all be markers for you to make judgements in the future. Like I said if you were insisting there be something wrong with her that would be different. My son will prob be dragging his broken leg behind him or something after me telling him "oh just rub it" - total opposite Grin
