'hearing may not be satisfactory for listening in the school classroom'

Ds has come home with a letter from school saying that he's had his hearing test and the results are that his hearing 'may not be satisfactory for listening in the school classroom'. It goes on to say that it's not uncommon for children of his age and he'll be checked again soon but I've found myself (probably unnecessarily) concerned about it.

Anyone have any experience of this?

I have noticed that ds doesn't always seem to hear us, but I put that down to tuning out because he has perfect hearing when it comes to listening into conversations that don't involve him!

DS failed two hearing tests at school and they got him referred to Audiology to be checked. I should imagine if there is a problem with the re-test that they can do something similar. Maybe speak to the school to see whether this is the case. I also got a GP letter through saying the school had contacted them, and they checked him over in the meantime whilst waiting for the hospital appointment.
