Does anyone have experience with baltic amber teething necklace/anklets? Do you rate them and where is the best place to buy them?

Also, fancy the anklet as would prefer it not to be so visible. Are they are good as the necklaces?

singersgirl I am on your side. I think it is a massive load of shite. If you read my post again you'll see I was just objecting to the massively incorrect use of the word analgesic. There are no pain relieving properties in amber. Hate the link that was previously posted, it is so badly written it is unreal. Well done though, you got me to actually post what I think (I usually lurk with this facial expression Angry) .....Grin

Oh, sorry, misread your post - that's because I was so enraged with righteous indignation by those ludicrously self-serving links Grin. Off to re-read Bad Science!

I'm going to see Ben Goldacre tomorrow Grin

Amber is a natural product and it has also v mild anti-static properties (ever done experiments at school?), so it would make sense that it would help to release any build up static in the body (and plenty of that around in the environment).
So whilst on adult you would use TENS or similar electric/electronic equipment for pain release, amber would act in a similar and v subtle way to relieve the pain.
I actually have amber necklace and a bracelet and wear them as jewellery, conscious of their natural origin and beauty. Better than plastic beads imo.

Oooh I know all about Thales and amber experiments because I helped ds1 with his homework the other day.

I'm was sceptical but when a friend gave my ds3 one I thought I would try it after 3 terrible teethers and he never had a problem except for the week when dd had snapped his necklace.
It may be co-oincdence, it probably was (the sceptic still rises) but I am not risking it.
Plus it looks funky and gets compliments

IWillCountToThree · 10/05/2011 22:48

My Ds wears one and has done for 15m. He used to drool like a rabid dog and have awful ezcema till he wore it, now we have no problems.

It may just be that he's grown out of it but i'm still glad he's got the necklace!

I've had compliments on how funky it looks too!

My friend used this on her daughter, telling me how amazing it was that it had taken away all the pain and teething problems. I was Hmm as I could see her obviously drooling, and chewing her hand with normal teething trouble. Maybe the magic woo properties work by making the parents not pay attention.

lljkk · 12/05/2011 13:56

Pretty to look at?

Looks like an objective discussion, for those who are open-minded.

shrinkingnora · 12/05/2011 14:24

Good link lljkk.

Does anyone who put an amber necklace on their child know how that child would have coped without the amber necklace during that exact same period of time?
