Pain from losing baby teeth

DD just turned 6 and has 2 wobbly teeth- her top front two.

She's been complaining of pain from the most wobbly one (the gum bleeds a bit, which I know is normal), and has trouble eating and sleeping.

We've suggested ways of putting food at the back of her mouth in small chunks, so she can chew it like that, or eating yogurts/smoothies. We've also been giving her paracetamol at night, but I'm loath to do that every evening for what may be months more of teeth-loss.

Does anyone have any pain-relief advice? I've tried searching Mumsnet and Google, but haven't found much. Or should I maybe take her to the dentist? (she was only there at the start of April)

Perhaps a bit of bonjela to numb the pain? Especially before feeding. Its a bit excessive to give calpol or ibuprofen unless its very bad, as it may take a few of weeks for them to come out. I would certainly give calpol before bed so she settles and sleeps better.

good call on the bonjella- will go and buy a tube tomorrow, thanks.

The sooner they come out, the less pain there will be. DD is incredibly slow at loosing her milk teeth. She is almost 10 and so far only eight have gone. She never complained of pain, but was irritated by the bit of tooth that dangled.
She's give four a big yank and had four removed by the dentist.

My DS tied a bit of string round his and attached it to the door, then slammed it! I can remember my baby teeth being itchy not painful and wobbling for months! Teeth, they are a pain when they come through and when they fall out!

yes, I never anticipated we'd go through it all again - in reverse!

It might also be that she has the third molars coming in at the back of her mouth as well - so has general mouth pain. We are suffering here too!
