Itchy tummy button

Hi all,

Bit of a strange one i think. DS is 13 months and will not stop scratching his tummy button! He's made it red and it's looking sore. I've been putting sudocrem on it but it's not helping. It's been like this for over a week,

Do you think it'll go by itself and just one of those random things children get?

TIA

I wonder if canesten maybe better than sudocrem, It could be a fungal infection?

Just out of curiosity...has he been wearing jeans with a metal button? The backs of those buttons on my skin make me terribly itchy.

I get this!!! My belly button is a weird shape, goes in far, but also sticks out (umbilical hernia weird shape) Often if a button has rubbed, as Allthreeways says, it goes red and then can get weepy. We have some cream from the docs, think it is probably an antiseptic, cant remember the name but it was prescribed for my son for a skin infection so might be anti fungal, (helpful), anyway it clears up straight away if I use that. I would pop to the doctors and get some cream, if you leave it or put the wrong thing on it will go all crusty and weepy. Well it might not, but that's what happens to mine! Grin

Cansesten will help with this. Does he have an innie? You need to make sure you dry it really well after his bath and then apply the cream. Do it again in the morning.
