Vomit. Is it reflux? Can I do anything to reduce it?

Hi
DS is 17weeks and EBF. He is always sick after feeds, but not necessarily straight after feeds - for example this morning he fed at 8.30am then was sick at 10am (down his nose yeuck) and then again at 10.30am. It sometimes seems like there is loads of sick and what was the point of feeding him!!
He is a happy chap really and doesn't seem to get too stressed about the vomit (although he wasnt that impressed with it coming down his nose this morning!!). He has been sleeping through for a good week and a half now, he is gaining weight well as he is already busting out of 3-6month clothing although I havent had him weighed recently.
Do I just need to accept that he is a sicky baby? Will all of this calm down when he gets a bit bigger? Will it calm down once he starts solids? Do I need to go see the doc about it? Is there anything they can do? So many questions but this is my first and am absolutely clueless about babies!

Any suggestions gratefully received as I am rather fed up of changing my clothes and his quite so often.
Thanks

It does sound like reflux. Does he feed contentedly or come off the breast and seem to be in pain?

There are drugs he can take to control the acidity if he needs them and food stabilisers like infant Gaviscon which help to keep food down. Early weaning is also helpful and less controversial than it was.

If you are concerned, see a doctor with some knowledge of reflux and get him assessed. On the other hand, if the weight gain is good and he seems contented, you could just wait for him to grow out of it (generally happens when they are more upright, around 1 yr).

All that vomit does tend to ruin a house though! Still gradually replacing things since our first born destroyed them.

My DS is 16 weeks old and EBF and doing the same. He spits up after a feed, and not necessarily right after, sometimes 30-60 mins after. I took him to the GP last week and was presrcibed Infant Gaviscon. It seems to have improved things, I've been giving it 3 times a day. But I have to mix it with expressed breast milk or else he won't take it. I would like to know if Gaviscon can make the baby's poo more 'pasty' (for lack of a better description!)?

larrygrylls thanks, he is very calm and contented on his first and last feed of the day, rest of the time he can be quite distracted and at times after a feed he can be quite fidgety and a bit unsettled.
I am not entirely sure that I can wait a whole year for things to calm down, so I may have a trip to the doctors!!
victo glad the infant gaviscon seems to have helped, will see how we go at the doctors.

hi,
infant gaviscon seems to be slowing the sick! and ds wont take it unless mixed with expressed milk either. Not noticed poo pastiness as yet(!) :)
