Can you get pull ups on prescription?

DSs school will only take him in pull ups (posible constipation/overflow, on Movicol now, seen paed., going back in 3m during which time he stays in the pulls ups - he's 5), and we used them all over easter to get him used to being out of pants and have got through millions. The headteacher said we should be able to get them on prescription, is that right? If so, how many do you get because DS is getting through about 6/7 a day.... Had to do a dash last night for more and paid £6.75 for enough for 2 days! Shock

You can, but you won't get the amount you need. You need to a referral to the continence nurse in your area, I'd ask the GP. They'll assess DS and take it from there. Goo luck :)

You need to speak to your gp/ district nursing team. From what i remember there is a lot of paperwork and not everyone is entitled (i saw them being issued to a severely disabled child)

quadriplegic nephew aged 17 - recently rationed to 3 nappies a day/ night.

Good luck

but he's already under the paed. at the hospital? Argh, I'll go down there now and see... Pull ups are so expensive and luckily he is skinny and can wear there size 5/6. Thanks

3 nappies??? I have no words. That would have me chained to the railings! What do they expect you to do?

ASecretLemonadeDrinker - Yes, that's right. Respite care also cut back due to cut backs and also resources available. Nephew is tube fed, doubly incontinent, needs hoists, lifts, ramps etc. I assume once nappy supply runs out - someone somewhere assumes he has washable ones. Frankly, when I see some of the waste in the health service I am disgusted. David Cameron had a disabled child. I would have hoped for better.

In our area, once they are in education the referral can be done by the school nurse. If you don't know them, the school will have the number and she will do the paperwork. They usually weigh and measure them in school to assess what size.
