Treated the nits - when does the itching stop?

DS2 cam home from nursery on Friday itching his head and over the weekend we discovered head lice .

We've treated us all with Full Marks headlic treatment, but he's still itching his head. Is this likely to be from the irritation that happened before we treated him, or should I do it again?

Sounds like you may need to repeat - think it is 7 days after first one. Or you coudl wet comb with conditioner and a nitty gritty comb.

I've be been through his hair again with the nit comb - no sign of anything untoward.

Do you know if it'd be ok to repeat 5 dyas after the first application - we're going camping on friday and I'm not keen on doing it there!!

Full Marks doesn't always get every one so you need to comb and condition every three days to make sure you get any stragglers or recently hatched babies anyway.

If you only treat and then don't follow up by regular combing and conditioning you are very likely to get another infestation within a couple of weeks.

Comb and condition - no problem. We'll do that daily.

Should have said earlier it's worth buying a Nitty Gritty comb to do it with. They have longer teeth so get through more layers than a normal nit comb. Especially worthwhile if like mine your DC have really thick hair!

He's got short hair, only about 1" long so the Full Marks comb seems big enough to do the job.

Combed again tonight with conditioner, will do it again tomorrow........!

DS has v short hair and the comb I got with shampoo didn't catch the lice and I had to get the eggs with tweezers.
I then got the nitty gritty comb and there was no escape for the feckers, it caught lice, eggs everything.
No need for the shampoo when you have nitty gritty comb.
Incidently when I used the shampoo I found a live beast the next day so it didn't even kill them.

OK. I need a Nitty Gritty comb!

Do I need a visit to Boots or Superdrug for one or do most pharmacies stock them?

I got mine from an eBay shop, was cheaper and came the next day. :)
