DS flushes red in the centre of his forehead

DS is 6 months. It's happened since birth. I asked the HVs once and they said it was because he was hot.

I'm not convinced it's that though. It happens really regularly. It's quite a large diamond-shaped area. It happens when he feeds, when he cries, when he's just sat there doing nothing. I dont think it's a problem but I just wonder what it is.

Also, when he feeds he flushes there, across his forehead and in a band across his eyes, like he's wearing a mask. Sometimes tiny little spots come up from the corner of his eyes to his hairline. Does anyone know what causes that please?

He also goes bright red the whole side of his face which is downwards when he feeds, but I guess that's just gravity. It does make him look a bit Phantom of the Opera though :)

My sister has a pressure mark in the middle of her forehead, about the size of an adult thumbprint, with the base at her eyebrow line. DM says it was bigger when she was a baby. It flushes red (purple when she was little) whenever she is stressed, cross or tired. If your DS' one is similar then it probably isn't serious... we use hers as a good barometer for her temper! :)

Oh, interesting. His is down to the eyebrow line, and it does flush when he's worked up, so it sounds like it could be that. Oh, and it's more purple than red really.

Bit :( he might be stuck with it though. Still, handy for us when he's a teen :o

Is it a stork mark look here for a good picture.

Both my DCs had this at birth. DD's (7yo) has gone completely now and DS's (3yo) is only visible when he gets v. worked up.

Aha, yes, I think that's it. Looks like it will go then. Thanks piprabbit! I'll get olive oiling it! :)
