Anal fissure in baby - help!

Poor little mite. He is only just starting to wean a little bit and has been a bit constipated. I noticed his anal area was sore looking earlier and then at bedtime he did quite a solid poo and there were spots of blood coming out of bottom, well around bottom. Think it's a fissure.

What can I do to help? I put sudocrem on it to ease the soreness but worry that every time he poos it will open up again.

I am taking him to docs tomorrow but wondered how common this was and what the treatment usually is etc.

Feel so sorry for him.

My boy had one when he was about 1 and a half. I just had to put some cream on it every time I changed his nappy (can't remember what sort sorry) and give him paedeatric movicol to soften his poo for a little while. It didn't take long to heal.

You probably already know this but you need to introduce water to drink once you start to wean. I had a chronically constipated DD from 4 mts to 4 years and the main cause was reluctance with fluids.

He still breastfeeds when with me but at nursery refuses a bottle and though he has some water I expect he isn't getting enough fluids on his nursery days.

His poo up until today didn't seem so bad really as he eats v little solid food tbh. Will take him to the docs tomorrow and see what is needed.
