Low white blood cell count means that he has less infection fighting power and so immune system. Which would explain the colds, sore throats ect.

There are many reasons for a low white blood cell count, from the minor to the serious.

Immunoglobin is often the name used for an antibody. Which is basicly something that identifies and destroys germs. For example, once you've had chickenpox you get chickenpox antibodies which will then kill off the infection the next time you are exposed before it makes you ill. Immunoglobin can also refer to a few more specialised things such as receptors on Cytokins and T-Cells. Without knowing exactly what your consultant said I don't know which he was refering too.

Sounds like you've got a good consultant, so don't worry too much. If you don't understand what he's saying ask him to explain it to you. Many problems with the immune system are simple to correct.

Hope your DS is feeling better soon.
