Dd has been groany all week, really moany and groany. On thur she had horrendous diorrhea and a temp of 385. The gp checked her out- ears, throat, chest clear.

On fri her temp was fine and she was brighter. She was sick at teatime but has reflux so I didn't think much of it. Today she really hasn't wanted much milk (formula) at all. She has had 26oz in the end but its been a struggle. She's been a bit moany esp now. She threw up immediately after her morning bottle, was ok after lunchtime one and then threw up and had a sore tummy about an hour after her teatime bottle (just now). She's still moany but could be tired.

I'm worried - do you think its a tummy bug?? I am fine with reflux sickness but have a bit of a phobia of tummy bugs and of ds aged 4 catching it. I'm working on it but I'm struggling right now and dh is working until wed.

She hassnt had diorrhea touch wood since thur evening by the way.

Oh and she's just got a new tooth.

Any help /advice/opinions/support welcome. Am feeling worried and yet pathetic at the same time!

I'm sure better qualified advice will be along in a moment, but until then, just wanted to say 'hang on in there'. My DCs are 4 and 5 now, but I remember how worrying it is when very little ones are ill.

It sounds as though she's on the mend if she hasn't had more diorrhea. I'd suggest feeding her very little bits at a time, but as often as she can manage. If milk keeps coming back up, try boiled water so that she doesn't de-hydrate. She's six months old? Is she normally eating other foods or just on milk? Perhaps try her with some baby rice made with water instead of milk to give her some calories.

How's her temp. today?

Good luck - hope she gets better soon.

Thanks.

Her temps been fine since thur night.

She is baby led weaned (cos won't spoon feed) so haven't been giving her anything.

I just thought she was better cos she had no temp.

Does it sound like a tummy bug then? What's the incubation period for this type of thing.

if she's taken less than half of her normal feeds, it's always best to get a baby checked over.

does she have a temp today?

blinks · 09/04/2011 18:35

cross post

if temp fine and taking more than half normal feeds, just keep offering milk/boiled water and keep an eye out for lethargy, dry nappies and/or discoloured vomiting.

She probably wouldn't have taken half of her normal amount awake but she is often fed alseep anyways due to reflux and nosiness. I've spoken to the hv and gp millions of times by the way. She was just reluctant -more than normal.

I'd give her little and often for the next couple of days, and maybe give her a rice cake or corn cake to gum on when she's interested. If she's not better after another day or two, take her back to the GP for another check over. ...but I'm not an expert.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. Thanks for the advice. Thought I'd give her until monday (unless dehydrated etc).
