18-month old burnt his hand...

Poor DS burnt 2 fingertips on an oven tray.. My fault, of course! :( It's not bad (I couldn't even see where he'd burnt his hand for like half an hour until two little blisters came up :() I've got creams and a panthenol foam to treat it with but of course they don't work instantly. He's ok at mo but keeps rubbing his fingers which of course makes it worse. I tried applying Boots paper tape on them but he keeps pulling it off so gave up. Does anyone know how to stop him bursting the blisters until they heal (could take 3-4 days)??

many thanks

You should get aloe vera plant or aloe vera gel on to his fingers. Neat lavender oil works well too.
You can get special silver cream from the doctors nurse it is like magic for healing. Apply cream then wrap around mirco pure dressing tape better then plasters as it breathes.
I would give him a little cup of cold water to keep his fingers in to make sure the sting is out. As the blisters can throb.

thanks! I just put a bit of bonjela on his fingers as it's got a tiny dose of painkiller in it that seemed to work for the mo. The micro surgical tape was what I used and he just keeps pulling it off unfortunately.
Is there any way to keep a dressing on?

I think you can get special finger bandages and they have little plastic covers that fit over them. Try local chemist. I would go to the doctor personally and they can give you some silver cream and a couple of spare dressings. Savlon cream has a local anthestic cream be careful at night dont wont his hand to burst and stick to the bedclothes. Use a clean cotton hankie and and maybe a soft cotton sock placed over it to protect it.

My son chucked a cup of hot tea down him I doused him in lavender and aloe vera. The plant is magical if you could get one as you slice open a leaf then apply sticky gel to the wound its soothes and helps healing.

Also ring NHS direct ask them as blisters are present they might suggest something useful they normally ring you quickly when you have a child. Mine drank some witch hazel and they rang me straight away. It was only a sip but I would rather be safe than sorry so don`t worry about bothering them.

thanks a lot i know about aloe vera it's great
my mum used it as a cold remedy when i was a kid
i've got an aloe plant but it's a different species of aloe not vera, not sure if it'll help
i've got lavender oil too so will give it a go
he's in bed now and i put lots of panthenol spray on his fingers that thing works magic too. I once saw a 6-y.o. kid fall into an open campfire his whole palm was burnt so badly i think it was mopstly 3rd degree burns. My mum rushed to the nearest vilage and got him some panthenol i think he was out of bandages within a week or so! He couldn't write for about a year tho and still has scars he's now an adult
