DD got her first pair of glasses today and she is 19mo (20 next week). she is long sighted +3.5 in her right eye and +6.5 in her left, so she is quite bad.

anyone have a tips for me to help her keep them on?

Armbands, seriously swimming armbands, she won't be able to reach to got the glasses off

lol chocolatechipcookie what a fantastic idea! My DD is nearly 3 and had glasses for a couple of months now and although she's keeping them on for longer periods of time now she still takes them off. Only thing I've found is repeatedly telling her how pretty she is to get her to put them on and then lots and lots of distraction

Mine had them from age 2. I tried all sorts. Just keep putting them back on, not saying anything. After a while (well a good year in our case) she forgot they were there. It's a lot easier once they start pre-school as they just seem to keep them on there. The curley ears on glasses are quite good too.

Like the armbands idea

DD has had glasses now for about 6 or 7 months (she's 2.5 yr now). Took awhile for her to get used to them but the optician told me to start with a few minutes each day & build it up. You just have to keep persevering & if her eyesight is poor then she'll suddenly just get it as she'll realise it's better with glasses than without. That was certainly the case with dd.

But lots of distraction straight away helps or doing something new as a bit of a treat. Do you or anyone else in family wear glasses? If so talk about it a lot too. I usually wear contact lenses but wore my glasses much more when she started (even though I hate them - mine that is). And lots of compliments and making them sound really exciting.

Although she is meant to wear them all the time she does still have rest periods when she says she doesn't want to wear them. Which reckon is fine as I don't want to have lots of battles. We just try again a bit later.

Which I reckon is fine.
