Am I right in thinking you're meant to add 1 degree when using under arm thermometers?

So that it represents an accurate body temperature?

DD's is 38.6 so does that mean it's really 39.6?

Will calpol do or should I take her to the dr?

I think so.
Give her calpol and TBH the doc depends on how she is and other symptoms

Thanks. I've given her some calpol and she's having a sleep. She's never ill so it's strange seeing her being all quiet and going in her cot without a murmur Sad

I'll see how she is when she wakes up.

What's up with her?

Is she in loose clothing with loose coverings? Bit of air circulating.

Try not to be too led by the number on the thermometer and look at her. How do you think she is? Eating? Drinking? Symptoms?

Yes you add a degree but I sometimes wonder how accurate that is as my oral and underarm temp are usually the same.

Oh and how old?

Horrid when they're ill isn't it?

NosyRosie · 31/03/2011 11:37

She's 11 months. She's grizzled most of the morning but more recently gone very quiet. I managed to get her to sleep but then the bloody dog barked at the postman and woke her up Angry now she can't go back off Sad

She's hardly eaten anything (small appetite anyway but she's not even touching her favourite things).

She's in vest and tights at the moment. I took her dress off for sleeping and haven't bothered to put it back on because I thought she should be kept cool.

Thank you for your replies Smile
