Chickenpox?

My DS 2years, came out with three blisters that look distinctly like Chicken Pox and I was expecting a flurry of spots to follow. Today was day 2 and he only has about 15 spots all over none of which are as big as the first 3 although do look like blisters. So I am assuming it is CP. The only thing that makes me think it isn't is the fact that he doesn't seem bothered by them as in itching them. is it possible to get the Pox without the itch? He says 'hurt', but doesn't touch them. He had the temp and is not himself.

Anyone else had non itchy pox?

yesm my DD got it around two as well and even though hers was quite bad in terms of hte amount of spots (although they did keep coming out for at least three days i seem to remember) she didn't seem to itch much at all. i think she scratched a tiny bit when the spots were drying up but that was about all. so it is possible- although if you haven't been to the doc, perhaps you should, just to get it confirmed. it sounds very like CP though. Joy. hope he is over it quickly.

Thanks for your reply. He has a few more spots today so I think it must be. I think where he is saying hurt maybe it is itchy but he just doesn't know what to do about it. Doctor said only bring him in if he is v poorly. Good age to get it though - all done before pre school!

definitely a good age to get it - theyt don't seem to know to scratch it, so it is much less likely to scar; and you never need to worry about it in nursery or school, like you say!!! if you get it when older or in adulthood it is AWFUL - i got it when i was 12 weeks pregnant with DD2 (got it from DD1) and was in hospital. if he complains of "hurt"/itching, i got this thing at the chemist called either clearpox or poxclean or something - specially formulated for children's chickenpox (:)) - and it was like a foamy cooling/anti itch thing and it was fantastic - dd did not seem itchy at all. i think it also contained antiseptic to prevent the sores infecting (which they are not likely to unless he picks very badly). best of luck - you are now through the worst of it! :)
