How can I stop him grinding his teeth?

ds 2.6 (has CP but no learning disability) keeps grinding his teeth aarrrggghhhhh!
last november he had 16 teeth removed as they were poor quality, I don't want him to loose his remaining 4!
I have told him to stop it, to which he smiles and does it even more! I have tried ignoring it but he seems to get some satisfaction out of it, ant ideas?

Have you spoken to the dentist for advice? My ds, age 6, does it - usually when he's tense or concentrating, and also when he's asleep (so do I, incidentally).
It's turned into a habit with ds, and the dentist said if it started affecting his teeth then he'd give him a splint (gumshield) to wear at night, so there may be something available to you. Or can't you bribe him, or is he too young to understand bribes yet? :)
Or if he does it, then say no, and remove the toy he's playing with for a few seconds, so he can see that there's a punishment or whatever?

[unfortunatly] too young for bribing but I can't wait til I can Grin
I've had a look at these new teeth and they do seem much better quality than the previous ones, I'll ask the dentist when we see him in may.
Thats good about the toy I'll try that first, he will get that and that it's punishment. thanks for your reply.
