Toddler straining his arm

DS strained his left arm when he was 12 m.o. - he was dangling from my arms when he was 'walking'. His arm was dangling limply and he wouldn't use the arm or hand (it's his dominant one) and cried when it was moved, but was otherwise okay. We took him to A&E who said it was just soft tissue damage, no dislocation and he started using it again a few hours later.

The hospital said this sort of injury was very common and we didn't need to be careful to avoid this sort of thing in future.

A month later he did something similar to the same arm, but was fine after a couple of hours.

It's happened again today - left arm again. I'm starting to wonder whether there might be an underlying issue rather than just unfortunate coincidence. Any suggestions?

I have hypermobility (not really bad, but enough to cause me problems). Might something like that be causing it?

Suspect if you've done it once it may be more likely to do it again. Certainly with dislocation it is.
