Chicken pox in 8wk old

Hi all, DD1 (2y9mo) has just gotten over chicken pox. Spots are still there but have been scabbed over for about 12 days. Now our DD2 (8wks) has two small blisters formed under her thigh.

I am exclusively BFing her so I assumed she had a pretty strong chance of not developing chicken pox but I guess she has it, we just didn't notice that much of a change in her and hardly any symptoms.
My question is, if she only has a few spots does that means she's had it "mildly" and could she get it again when she's older or is this a myth?

DD1 had horrendous symptoms, sickness, diarrhoea, anorexia, aching body, temp of 38.6 etc but only 7 spots. I'm confused as somebody remarked that she only had it "mildly" because she only had a few spots? But surely the symptoms are what determines how mild it is not the spots?? Confused

My DD had only 4 spots when about 2yrs then got it again badly when about 4yr with spots all over her body. My DS got it under the age of 1 and he then had it a second time when about 2. DS2 had it but only once and DD2 is now 4 and doesn't seem to be able to pick it up at all. Think it is just luck as to whether they get it a second time or never, really wouldn't worry about it too much, if DD1 was really ill with it then I would say her body has learnt how to fight it off and will not get it again, none of mine were ever ill that much with it just a little grumpy.

Hope they are all well soon :)

Your dd1 had anorexia?

TettyLouBar · 27/03/2011 20:01

yes, anorexia is actually a symptom: to have a poor appetite whatever the cause. I didn't mean the eating disorder anorexia nervosa. Wink

Have never heard it used in that context, you learn something new every day!
Don't have any advice but have definitely heard of many people getting it twice but I don't know any iykwim.
