Baby (13wks) wee'd in his eye

He has had a bit of a gunky eye for a while anyway but this morning changing him he managed to wee in his eye (quite a lot!!)
I've cleaned it gently with boiled water & it now looks a little bloodshot.
He doesn't seem bothered about it & has now gone to sleep.
Should I be worried about the fact that its a bit bloodshot?

Bless him! Grin I wouldn't worry about the wee for a heartbeat.

It would probably be worth mentioning his gunky eye to a doctor or hv. My dd also had a gunky eye and I was advised to verrrrry gently massage her tear ducts as they were getting a bit blocked.

I doubt that the wee would cause it to be bloodshot; if his eye is still gunky, it sounds like he has an eye infection. I would take him to the GP tomorrow to get some eye drops.

If you are breastfeeding, squirt some breastmilk into his eyes.

I think it will be fine, and the fact that it's a little bloodshot is a coincidence. Hopefully someone with more wee-ing in the eye experience will be along soon though.

Just to add - DS (7 months) also has gunky eyes, which I always ask his Dr about when we're there. So far I've been told that they'll clear up on their own (and that it's an immune system-challenging bonus by a pharmacist Confused). I'm planning to see his Dr again about this...

about the gunky eyes - DD had this for some time - over the age of 12 months. It's generally blocked tear ducts, they generally do clear up on their own. If not it would be a surgical intervention to widen them, which they will only do over 2 yrs. Just keep the eye clean & it will go away eventually.

That's interesting, thanks iskra.

I am beginning to think that they look a little better...
