After effects of MMR / 12 month jabs

DS2 had his 12 month jabs a week ago today.

Since the weekend, he's been very snotty and in last couple of days, he's really not been himself. He's been warm and quite clingy and irritable (no temperature) and has developed the most hacking cough and wheeziness. The wheeziness is in his throat rather than his chest. He's off his food (very unusual) and his sleep is disturbed.

Is this likely to be side effects of MMR jab?

When DS1 had his MMR, he developed tonsillitis a week later and I didn't take him to the Doctor for days, as I thought it was the jab, so feel a bit over-concerned now.

Thanks

I would say so. My dd was the same after the mmr. she had a horrible rash all over her legs to go along with the flu like symptoms that your describing. we took her to doctors and they Gave her anti histimines for her rash but assured me her cold and cough would soon ease and was a common side affect of the jag.
i just kept giving her calpol to keep her temperature down. she was Very irritable for about a week after.
im sure its normal and nothing to worry about but if you are concerned just pop down to your gp and get a bit of peice of mind. or phone nhs24 and they can offer good advice. i actually find them more helpful than my gp sometimes.
poor little thing. hope they get better soon. suppose though its worth them having a bad cold from it rather than what they can get without the mmr. x

thanks lucychoobs. no rash at all on ds2. i've just phoned my doctor and he said i am welcome to bring him in, but said the same as you, it's a common side effect. it's the wheezing that has concerned me. but he is fine in himself pretty much, up and down, more irritable and clingy than actually being ill, iyswim.

i'm going to give it over the weekend (unless it gets worse) and see where we are monday.

thanks for posting.
