High temperature in 15 month old

When is a temperature so high you should go to A&E? DD had loose stools for a few days but seemed ok - yesterday she was sick and also had diarrohea so went to GP who examined her - no temperature, no ear infection throat ok etc - just a virus thats going around.

Last night she woke up 4 times and at 23.00 she was running a temperature of 39.1 - so gave baby iprufen and stripped her off - woke up later with a temp of 38.9 and gave calpol as it was 04.30 then. I was worryiong though with these temps should i be doing anything else?

DD was in hospital at New Year after having a febrile seizure - and the hospital was so hot it made me feel ill - all they did with the temp was give calpol/ibufren alternately and water.

Cheers

38.9 isn't that high. Gps don't usually recommend even giving calpol etc till the temp is around that high. However, given the seizure episode in the past, I'd certainly give NHS direct a ring, and see what they say. Better safe than sorry, even if it is "just" a virussy thing.

Hope she feels better soon!

Cheers for that. I know I shouldn't give the drugs to try and prevent a seizure as its the rise in temp which causes it but she's obviously distressed.

DD now woken up temp 37.9 and I can't put her down as she wants to be held all the time.GP said yesterday not to give her milk for 24 hous just water and fruit juice which I was worried about - DD is on the 0.4 percentile growth and only 17lb so i do worry about her losing weight. Her bottom is ed raw today poor mite.

Aw bless her. Sounds like she's got something lurgy like, but it's good the temp is coming down.
(I always give the calpol whatever just because I think it makes them feel a bit less icky)

Cheers again - DD now napping - well been asleep for the last 80 mins actually. Changed her nappy 4 times already this morning - she's hating it.

On the positives though she's tried to eat my toast and eaten some dry cherios and had a good cup of water so i think she might be feeling a bit better. Since the febrile seizure i tend to worry if her temperature starts rising though.
