DS been off food for almost a week now - any ideas?

On Friday DS wouldn't eat his lunch, but ate dinner fine, then was violently sick at about 10pm.

He hasn't been sick again, but has been completely off food since then. He is eating breakfast ok, but then won't eat much for lunch or dinner - maybe a banana or some rice cakes.

The weird thing is that he doesn't appear ill at all - in amazing spirits, playing and jumping around.

He has only had 2 poos since he was sick, but not really surprising considering how little he has eaten.

I'm just starting to get a bit concerned as he's never gone this long being off his food before.

Any ideas on what it could be, or just a bug taking a long time to go away?

How old is he?

MikeHock · 16/03/2011 20:37

Sorry, classic error.

He's 2.8.

I might try with the analgesia as he is quite prone to swollen tonsils.

He's drinking ok, but again not his normal amount.

I'll check his mouth too, but I've asked him if he has a sore mouth and he says no.

Thanks for your help Smile.

Yes I agree with there may be a pain. He's eating nice soft foods, so something may be bothering him. Give him a little once over and if there is nothing obvious I would take him to drs to get his ears and throat looked at.
Has he said he hurts anywhere?

MikeHock · 16/03/2011 21:05

I've asked him if he's got a sore tummy, and he says no - same for mouth, head. Didn't think to ask about his ear. I'll give him a check over and then maybe take him to the GP.

Another weird thing is that he normally loves his bedtime milk, but I haven't given it to him since Friday because of the sickness. I thought I'd try tonight and he literally started crying as soon as he saw it. I left it a few minutes and then offered it to him again - he took one sip and then spat it out. I wonder whether or not he has got used to not having it?

If he's got bad ears. Drinking a large drink may hurt them. Poor little man :(

MikeHock · 16/03/2011 21:28

Ah, good point.

He does seem to be sipping his drinks, rather than gulping them down, which is normally the case!

Thanks for the advice, I'll get him checked out tomorrow Smile

Was going to say ears as well. Hope he gets better soon!
