At the end of my tether with forever teething baby

Ds2 (1 last month) has been teething since Christmas, one tooth emerged a few days ago but he's still needing to be basically medicated the whole time otherwise he screams, will not nap or eat. We have got through bottles and bottles of ibuprofen and calpol and I even gave him medised last week as he was getting such unbroken nights. I am just so fed up with medicating him so he can have a normal baby's life, and I'm depressed that he's got the worst pain to come with canines and molars. Tonight he woke up at 3 with a huge temp and was inconsolable, arching back. Gave calpol and ibuprofen and he went to sleep after screaming for 30mins but woke up again at 5.15 screaming in pain again. The doses I'm giving him just aren't lasting. I am getting to the point where I'm losing sympathy :(

No idea if they are any good and seem a bit woo to me, but lot of mums swear by amber teething necklaces. here

Ah thanks but no thanks. think I will go and see a GP today.

Hmmm, yes, It seems odd to put a necklace on a baby to me too.
I agree I would be off to the GP - maybe there is something else going on.

Hi sounds like very hard work for u
My DS is 11months and he suffers really bad with teething as well. other babies i know had teeth without mums even knowing they were teething but not me. He eats, bites, drools, crys, and u can see the torture as he tries to get anything and everything into his mouth for relief. i use everything u do but found the teetha powders to be helpful also. Poor we thing - but a high temp isnt usually teething alone he could have something else working on him like ear, or throat inf worth chcking out

lubeybooby · 21/03/2011 01:57

Teething doesn't usually give a temp does it? I would be inclinded to think he has an ear or throat infection, or similar. A trip to the docs is definitely a good idea. Hope he feels better soon
