Chicken pox

13 days ago DS had a play date with 2 other boys. Boy 1 came down with chicken pox the following day. My DS had a play date with Boy 2 yesterday, who got the pox today (which fits in with the incubation period of 10-21 days). My DS is fine. Of course he could still get it from either the exposure.

Apparently it's catching from 2 days before the spots come (so you can only tell in retropect).

So here is my question....
Do I cancel DS's birthday party this Saturday? Or do I tell the guests what's going on and let them make their own mind up?

Advice please!

For my moneys worth, I would let the other parents know, and let them choose, unless your son is actually feeling poorly and doesn't want his party.

I caught chicken pox for the first time when I was 38 weeks pregnant, and so gave it to my newborn baby. With the benefit of hindsight I would love to have had it as a child, and I am more than grateful that my dds have both had it. (twice for dd1!).

Apart from anything else, do you want to tell your son that he can't have a party because he may or may not be ill?

it's his first birthday so I don't think he'll care, but I'd prefer not to cancel, and I think it's up to other parents to decide. Who knows, they may want to come to our chicken pox party!
