i am far from an expert, but didn't want you to go unanswered! i'm sure it's nothing to worry about though. have you taken her to see a dentist? FWIW, my best friend's DS didn't have a single tooth until he was 18mths old! he's 6 now, has all his teeth, no other problems Grin

Thanks very much for your note...that was quite reassuring [:-)]

If it helps, I'm in the same situation. DS1 has 11 teeth too and is 26 months old. His teeth come in waves, so one or two come through, then they stop growing completely for a couple of months until the next ones come through, as a result even the teeth he does have are barely through. It's not normal, in that most children will have more teeth at this age, but I don't think it's a problem, my dentist wasn't concerned when I mentioned it. There's nothing that can be done either, so it's just a case of being patient!

Normal. May be a family history of late teething? I got my first tooth around my 2nd birthday. Dd2 at 28m now has only 11 teeth, ds1 got last milk tooth shortly before 4th birthday. Nothing to worry about and no need to alter diet in any way (tho' may take a bit longer over steak/ roast beef!)

Thanks for sharing your experiences...

Maybe she is a bit late in teething...she always just swallows food and wud not chew at all...hence i still have to feed her soft , chopped food..when it comes to biscuits she will suck, make it soft & the swallow...Still No scene of eating chunky food!! :-(

DD is 22 months and also only has 11 teeth. I think it's just one of those things. They do say, however, that children who get their teeth late often lose their milk teeth late too. Don't be surprised if she loses them later than her friends.

linspins · 07/03/2011 13:15

My dd didn't get all her big back teeth until she was over 3, and didn't have any at one. I'm sure your dd will get all hers too - eventually! Nothing to worry about.

When DS2 was 2 he had the front 2 at top and bottom then a gap and then some more further back. The dentist was just about to x-ray at that point to check if he had them/had his adult equivalent of them, because they had appeared in the 'wrong' order, when they finally popped through.
