I have 3 children . . 9yr old DD , 6yr old DS and 16mth old DS ...Now my elder two children have already had the chickenpox but I have recently found out they could get it again but they both had a severe case of it in 2006..
Yesterday my baby boy had a few spots on his neck and shoulder.. the positioning of them suggested to me it was a sweat rash and as we had not been around anyone with chickenpox I didnt think anything of it ...
Today I have taken his vest off to change him and they on his back , his chest, armpits and just above his groin there is a right cluster of them... he seems ok , not bothering him at all but its been a while since I dealt with chickenpox...Its totally exploded on him.. I cant get to get him any calamine lotion until tomorrow so what do any of you mums suggest ? I have e45 cream in ...
Thanks in advance for any help x x

Calamine's pretty rubbish. I think you can give piriton liquid to babies over 1- that should really help with the itching. Virasoothe gel is really good too, and can be used on children over 6 months. Also bicarb and/or oatmeal in a bath.
Hope he gets over it soon.

Sorry. Should have said use oatmeal/bicarb now, then get some piriton and virasoothe tomorrow if you can.

Bicarb ? you learn something new x I have bicarb in and will try anything xx
He seems totally non-plussed though and not touching them at all but I know that will come when they start to scab..
Thanks for ur help x

it is rare to get chicken pox twice so hopefully your older dc's should be ok. We used aqueous calamine cream, piriton and bicarb in the bath.

If the spots go in his mouth and become ulcers you can get a spray analgesic to numb them.
