Positional Talipedes - 7m DD still turns her feet in

We have done the exercises we were given by the doctors just after her birth, but she still rolls onto the outsides of her feet when standing (obv with help!), and often moves one foot on top of the other. She brings her foot in when crawling too, which seems to impede her at times.

Now, I do understand that since she isn't walking yet, she hasn't got the same kind of incentive to stand with her feet flat, but going into the future, at what point should I take action if nothing changes? She's fairly knock-kneed too, and so is my DS. I myself had a lot of problems in puberty due to hypermobility which had gone unnoticed, and as that had been inherited "through the female line" I'm worried that may exacerbate things. I don't want to overreact (hence why I'm asking here and not marching down to the GP's Grin ) but I am a little concerned, as if there is a problem I want to be on top of it from the earliest opportunity.

Arg, a load of waffling there. Still, anyone that managed to sift through that, what do you think? Is this normal at a pre-walking stage, or do we need to consider a referral to a physio?

DD was born with positional talipes in her right foot. She was referred to a physio at our discharge from hospital and her first appointment was at 3 weeks old.

If I were you, I would be asking for a referral now, while the bones and ligaments are still flexible and she can be observed at regular intervals. If any further action needs to be taken then it would happen sooner rather than later.

DD is 23 months now and was recently discharged from physio care, but they waited until she was walking well and made sure she was having no problems before they took this step. I was glad of the support and advice that we have had since she was born.

DD was born with positional talipes in both feet, but it only took a few weeks of physio to sort it out when she was born. Apart from the initial advice for physio she was never referred. If you think there is a problem I would try and get referred as it may take a while for an appointment to come through and she may be walking by then.

I was told when she first started walking to use ankle boots to support her ankles by a podiatrist. She is a teenager now and one of her ankles does roll over a bit. We saw a paediatrician for something else and he said the ankle boots were good for her feet.

DS had positional talipes of both feet, the soles were rotated right in - he looked like a little froggy Smile. Although we were rather worried at first as it seemed extreme to us, in fact with the exercises we were shown he righted himself very quickly. Certainly by the time he was pulling up to stand you couldn't tell. He bore weight on his feet from very early on though. He was slightly later to walk than others in our ante-natal classes at 15 months - but nothing out of the ordinary.

Not much help to you as in our experience there were no lasting issues. In your position I would be feeling a little worried. It will probably still right itself, but you are right in seeking additional assurance. Hope you find some soon.
