Do you think this is JUST teething?

Hi,

DD has had raised temp for last 24hrs, approx 38.5 although feels much hotter, also very red in face and off her food. She is quite irritable too.

I noticed today she had a tiny bit of a molar broken through so thought it was almost definitely her teet, as I had suspected.

However, this afternoon she has developed quite stinky breath too and now I am worried it is something more serious. Typical that it is a Friday evening!

Have any of your dc suffered with bad breath whilst teething or do I need to rush off to the Walk In centre tomorrow?

Thoughts please.

Hmm, could be a throat infection. I'd go to Walk In so they can have a wee look.

DS had a weird high temperature last week, up to nearly 40 Shock at times, on and off for 4 days. No sign of any teeth, GP couldn't find the cause. "Some virus" was the conclusion Grin

how freaky, I have just managed to get my bubba off to sleep after something of a fight. He is teething at the moment, at least 2 visible molars coming through and the whisper of more I think. Anyhoo, as we were playing tonight (for "playing" please read me rolling around on the floor while he chortles and tries to nibble my cheeks after covering them in dribble) and again now as I was feeding (bf) him I thought I could smell that he had funky breath. he DOES have a vicious cold right now and a slight chesty cough as do I. He obviously cannot tell me but I do have a sore throat from coughing and so I can only assume that he may well have one too. Is funky breath common with teething?????

Children with colds and blocked noses 'mouth breathe' more anyway and saliva can get a bit dry and stinky! It is the degree of stinky thats important. viruses also = sore throats and infections viral/bacterial. Also gums can get a bit of infection, gingivitis, def causing a smelly breath! If the stale breath returns to normal after a good drink of water, fine, if not I would get it checked over.

Will go to walk on I think. She is dribbling a lot too and she is not a dribbler at all which is why I was convinced it was her teeth but most of what I've read on net says the smelly breath points to an infection, although teething is occasionally mentioned.

Thanks everyone.
